While many people see the holiday season as the best time of the year, for Houston caregivers, this time of year may actually be the most stressful. Caregiving leads to long, full days that are packed with demands, and this can be difficult for family members to cope with. As you add the hectic events of a jam-packed holiday season, you may wind up with a worn out, exhausted Houston based family caregiver.
What are some ways that you can take care of caregiving responsibilities while still enjoying the holiday season? We'd like to offer a few ways for Houston caregivers to manage their stress levels.
Limiting Stress During the Holidays as a Houston Caregiver
Dedicate Time for Exercise: Although it may seem impossible, you can manage stress more effectively if you take the time to exercise for 15-30 minutes daily. Breaking this up into smaller chunks also gives you the same benefits as a full half hour all at once. This means that you can do Pilates for fifteen minutes, then take a fifteen-minute walk later in the day when you can fit it in.
Stick to Realistic Goals: A lot of us have over the top expectations for what we'd like the holidays to be. We dream of perfectly decorated homes, formal dinners, dress up cocktail parties, and attractively wrapped piles of gifts and the media doesn't help bring us back to reality.....
